Indoor / Outdoor Pipe Lighting by Triptyque

Decorating an industrial loft space might be somewhat of a road block for many interior designers. How do you make exposed metal pipe and concrete blocks aesthetically appealing? Well, the French-Brazillian architectural firm, Triptyque has found a way! Part of a design show - "do outro lado do muro” (the other side of the wall) - Pipe Light was an installation built in and around an abandoned home in São Paulo this past August. Combining metal piping, tubing and lamps - Pipe Light is both indoor lighting, and outdoor lighting! How innovative!

Modeled after a creeping plant or persistent weed, Pipe Light wraps itself around every wall, both inside and out to create a piece that bridges the gap between art and design. Commissioned by Houssein Jarouche - shop owner of Micasa, Pipe Light was installed in an abandoned house adjacent to Jarouche's store front. I don't know about you, but I think this is pretty cool stuff! This installation just goes to show that the ordinary can be made extraordinary. What's more ordinary than bare metal pipes?
